Grenada Board of Tourism launches 2nd Carriacou Maroon & String Band Music Festival

At an impressive ceremony held at its subsidiary office in Hillsborough, Carriacou last Saturday morning, the Grenada Board of Tourism, in collaboration with the Carriacou Community, launched the 2nd Carriacou Maroon and String Band Festival carded to take place from April 29 to May 1, 2011.

The 2010 Carriacou Maroon & String Band Music Festival- A Big Success

It is now over. The inaugural showcasing of the new look Carriacou Maroon & String Band Music Festival has occurred, leaving an atmosphere overwhelmed with raving reviews from both visitors and residents about a very successful event.
Clearly the diversity and professional musical presentations from all of the bands have combined to register a very satisfying feeling among the producers and patrons. In particular the pulsating rhythmic emissions from the Lashing Dogs of Tortola in the British Virgin Islands will remain a talking point for many years to come. This does not diminish the amazing musical treat that was provided by the Old Time Jammers of Tobago and the Mamai Kweyol grouping from St. Lucia. Read More
THE OFFICIAL LAUNCH OF THE CARRIACOU MAROON & STRING BAND MUSIC FESTIVAL

The Grenada Board of Tourism in its role as Executive Producers for the Carriacou Maroon and Regional String Band Music Festival, in collaboration with the cultural community of Carriacou, is pleased to announce that a launch event for this Festival will be held on Saturday, February 13, 2010 at 11.30 a.m. in Hillsborough.
The launch is expected to be attended by the Ministers for Culture and Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs - Senators Arley Gill and George Prime. The Honourable Elvin Nimrod, Member of Parliament for Carriacou and Petite Martinique has also been invited to the launch. Read More
